OKOctopus Mobile POS
The Octopus Mobile POS is a device that helps merchants using Octopus App for Business to accept Octopus card and QR Code payments, and functions like an Octopus reader.
This Mobile POS is for use on cashiers' Bluetooth-enabled Android or iOS mobile devices with the Octopus App for Business installed, and supports the Octopus card and QR Code payment acceptance functions.

After pairing, the Mobile POS will not turn off automatically. It will be in standby mode unless you turn it off using the power button. You can put the Mobile POS in standby mode for convenience. The latest version of the Octopus App for Business extends the battery usage and standby time of the Mobile POS, which now lasts up to 6 hours per charge.
- Do not disassemble in case the Mobile POS cannot be used normally.
- The device has a built-in battery, so please keep it away from water and fire.
- Do not clean the Mobile POS with alcohol or other corrosive liquids.
- If the Mobile POS is placed near a metal object or an object that produces electromagnetic radiation, communication with Octopus may fail due to electromagnetic interference. Please keep the Mobile POS away from these such objects, to prevent interference.
- The Mobile POS is neither waterproof nor splashproof:
- Exposure to or infiltration by water will corrode the interior and may result in malfunction.
- Avoid exposure to water and operation in excessively humid environments.
- Avoid touching the control and micro USB port areas with wet hands.
Set-up for the first time
- Press the power button of the Mobile POS. The Mobile POS will go to pairing standby mode, with the blue indicator blinking rapidly, ready for the mobile device to search.
- If there is no response after pressing the button, please charge the Mobile POS battery using the USB cable.
- The Mobile POS displays a [POS ID] and [PIN Code].
- Turn on Bluetooth in the mobile device, and open Octopus App for Business.
- In app settings, use the POS ID to search for and select the Mobile POS, then enter your PIN Code to connect.
- Upon successful Bluetooth connection, the Mobile POS will display [Connected].
Pairing must be completed once only. When pairing is completed, you can receive payments with the Octopus App for Business via your Octopus Mobile POS.
Special case (when pairing is required again)
Each Mobile POS can only pair with a single Android or iOS mobile device. If you want to pair the Mobile POS with another mobile device, please follow these steps:
- Press and hold the F3 function button on top of the Mobile POS for 3 seconds, to activate the Bluetooth pairing standby mode.
- Turn on Bluetooth in your other mobile device, and open Octopus App for Business.
- In app settings, use the POS ID to search for and select the Mobile POS, then enter PIN Code to connect.
- The Mobile POS will be disconnected from your existing mobile device and connected to your other mobile device.
Please follow the above procedure if you wish to pair your mobile device with a new Mobile POS.
The following are some of the possible reasons:
- The Mobile POS has been turned off. Please turn on the Mobile POS by pressing the power button for about 2 seconds until the welcome screen displays. You can release the power button. Connection to the paired mobile device will be established.
- Bluetooth is turned off. Please enable Bluetooth on the mobile device.
- The battery is discharged. Please charge the Mobile POS battery using the USB cable.
- The Mobile POS is not yet paired with the mobile device. Before using the Mobile POS for the first time, it must be paired with the mobile device via Bluetooth. Please follow the instructions in the section "Setup – for the first time".
- The Mobile POS has been paired with another mobile device. Each Mobile POS can only pair with one mobile device at a time. If the Mobile POS is paired with another mobile device after use, please follow the steps "Setup - Special case (when pairing is required again)" to again pair the Mobile POS with your original mobile device again.
- The Mobile POS is too far from the mobile device. The Mobile POS connects to your mobile device via Bluetooth wireless technology, limited to a distance of about 10m (33 ft.). Please ensure your Mobile POS is placed close to the mobile device, and avoid obstruction by people, metallic objects, walls, etc.
- The Mobile POS is experiencing interference from a wireless LAN device. The Bluetooth function of the Mobile POS and wireless LAN (IEE802.11b/g) devices use the same frequency ranges. When the Mobile POS is used near a device with wireless LAN, please keep it as close to the mobile device as possible or turn off the wireless LAN in order to avoid interference.
The following are some of the possible reasons:
- The customer's Octopus is not placed correctly on the Mobile POS. Please ensure the Octopus card is held steadily on the Mobile POS and do not remove it until the read/write process is complete.
- The Mobile POS will not function properly if two or more Octopus are placed on the Mobile POS at the same time. Please remove any nearby smartcard.
Please follow the steps in "Setup - Special case (when pairing is required again)" to cancel the pairing of the Mobile POS and the mobile device, and then perform pairing again.
