Any physical Octopus can be topped up using the NFC function on your mobile phone or through the Octopus Mobile POS.

Currently, only Business Accounts registered under a taxi driver’s or sole proprietor’s identity are eligible for this top-up to card service. Additionally, the regulatory authority requires the taxi drivers to undergo the identity verification (KYC). To do this, taxi drivers or sole proprietors must install the Octopus App and upgrade the Octopus Wallet to Plus or Pro level (verified).

No limit on the top up counts but the top-up amount limits are as follows:
Octopus Wallet Plus: $5,000 per calendar month, $8,000 per calendar year
Octopus Wallet Pro (verified): $5,000 per calendar month, $60,000 per calendar year

If top-up fails, it could be due to an invalid Octopus or the remaining value has exceeded the maximum stored value limit on card. Under such circumstances, the money will remain in the Business Account.

In general, it will effective immediately. Once the identity verification is completed, the taxi drivers or sole proprietors can top-up their Octopus anytime through the Octopus App for Business.

If an Octopus is lost, it can be reported through loss card reporting procedure. (Only Personalised Octopus or Octopus with Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) are eligible for the Loss Octopus Reporting Service.)

Once the balance is topped up onto the Octopus, it can be used for payment of goods and services at any acceptance points without any restrictions.

This service is free of charge for life and designated to offer convenience to taxi drivers or sole proprietors for topping up their business proceeds to the Octopus anytime, anywhere for daily spending at the extensive merchant network of Octopus, including shopping, dining, travelling, etc.

You can only top up to a maximum of two Octopus per month.
