OKOctopus on Android in Google Wallet
You can get Octopus on Android via Octopus App or Google Wallet (Octopus App required) by:
Issuing a new Octopus
A new Octopus on Android can be added via Octopus App or Google Wallet, with a minimum initial stored value of HK$100 and a deposit of HK$50, paid by a Hong Kong-issued Mastercard and Visa credit or debit cards added in Google Pay, Octopus Wallet, Faster Payment System, designated bank app, or UnionPay. There are no fees associated with adding a new Octopus. You are required to have an Octopus Wallet account to add a new Octopus on Android.
Note: Adding, topping up, viewing your Octopus on Android in Google Wallet require Octopus App to be installed.
Note: If you cannot find details related to Octopus in Google Wallet, please go to the Octopus App. Aside from the “Find My Device” feature in Google Wallet, all Octopus functions can be accessed through the Octopus App.
Yes. If you have Octopus on Android in Octopus App, you can add it to your Google Wallet. Once you add your Octopus on Android to Google Wallet, it will link with your Google account shown in Google Wallet.
To add your Octopus on Android to Google Wallet, please follow the steps below:
- Tap Octopus on Android card image on the “Manage Octopus” page of Octopus App;
- Tap "Add to Google Wallet" button;
- Read the instructions in Google Wallet and press "Add Card";
- In about a minute, Octopus on Android will be added to Google Wallet.
Balance, AAVS, Last reload date will be shown on the Octopus Card view in Google Wallet.
Note: If you cannot find details related to Octopus in Google Wallet, please go to the Octopus App. Aside from the “Find My Device” feature in Google Wallet, all Octopus functions can be accessed through the Octopus App.
Yes. As long as you still have your Octopus App installed and signed in, you can still use your Octopus on Android because it has been registered to your device through the Octopus App. However, you will not be able to see the details of your Octopus on Android in Google Wallet if you have switched your Google account.
Masked Card number will be shown in Google Wallet for card identification.
Note: If you cannot find details related to Octopus in Google Wallet, please go to the Octopus App. Aside from the “Find My Device” feature in Google Wallet, all Octopus functions can be accessed through the Octopus App.
When you receive a pop-up message in Google Wallet regarding your Octopus on Android, you may try to go to the Octopus App. We will be able to help you resolve any issue in our app if you cannot resolve it in Google Wallet.

No. Even if you have enabled device sync with your Google account, you still need to manually back up your Octopus on Android before deleting the Octopus App or performing a factory reset on your device.

Yes. You can add and use Octopus on Android without a Google Wallet account.

Google Find My Device is a separate app from Google Wallet.
If you want to use the Find My Device function to locate your phone and back up your Octopus on Android when found lost or stolen, please follow the steps below:
- If you do not have Google Find My Device installed, you may go to Google Play Store and install Google Find My Device first;
- After you have Google Find My Device app installed, you will need to sign in with the same Google Wallet account linked with your Octopus on Android;
- In Google Find My Device app, you can see a list of devices signed in with same Google account;
- Select and tap the device that is lost or stolen;
- Tap "Secure device";
- Tap "Secure [Your mobile device model]";
- Your device is now locked with its PIN, pattern, or password. You are signed out of your Google account on that device. Your Octopus on Android is backed up and you may restore it on another device.
Note: Your lost or stolen device must have an internet connection to use Google Find My Device to secure the device.

No. Google Find My Device is the only function that supports remote back up of Octopus on Android.
