OKAdd value to Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You may add value to your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay with cash, up to HK$3,000 at designated Octopus service providers, including major transport service operators and retail outlets accepting Octopus. For Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay issued before 1 October 2019, you can upgrade the stored value limit to HK$3,000 at Octopus App or Octopus Service Point.
Alternatively, you can add value to your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay through Samsung Wallet app with Hong Kong-issued credit/debit cards without service fees.
You can also use the Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) for Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay. When the remaining value on an AAVS-linked Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay reaches zero or a negative value, or when the remaining value plus the maximum negative value (HK$50) is insufficient to pay for a deduction, the auto-reload amount pre-selected at the time of application (HK$150, HK$250 or HK$500) will be automatically deducted from your designated credit card account and loaded to your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay. Each Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay can be automatically reloaded only once per day.
- Select "Add value" at the Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay Enquiry page.
- Select or enter an amount to add.
- Select your credit / debit card and use your selected authentication method to authorize the transaction.
- When the value has been added to the Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay, the amount will be shown on the enquiry page.
There is no charge for adding value with cash at designated service providers, via the Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) or through the Samsung Wallet app with Hong Kong-issued credit/debit cards.
The maximum amount that can be added is HK$3,000 (including the remaining value), while the minimum amount is HK$300. For Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay issued before 1 October 2019, you can upgrade the stored value limit to HK$3,000 at Octopus App or Octopus Service Point.
Yes, AAVS can be linked with Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay*. The procedure to apply AAVS is same as for any other Octopus; you can apply with selected financial institutions. For details, please visit www.octopus.com.hk/aavs or call the hotline on 2266 2338.
* To apply AAVS, you have to provide the Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay number, which can be found in the Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay card image on the Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay enquiry screen in the Samsung Wallet app.
You can activate AAVS for your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay by opening the Octopus App, tapping "Top Up and Transfer", then "Activate Smart Octopus AAVS" and filling in the required information.
Normally any payments made will be cancelled automatically, though it may take several days for the refund to process. If value has not been added and the payment is not refunded after several days, please contact us.
