The Octopus number is displayed on the Octopus image in the Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch enquiry screen in the Octopus App for Tourists, or can be found by opening Apple Wallet > select Octopus > tap "…" > Find the Octopus number at "Card Information".
Please make a note of the number, in case you are required to provide it to our staff when making enquiries.
This is a security feature, to ensure you are the actual Apple ID owner and holder of the Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch.
A single Octopus cannot be stored in Apple Wallet across multiple devices.
To use Octopus on both iPhone and Apple Watch, you can add separate virtual Octopus to each device. Each device can hold up to 12 Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch.
If you would like to use your Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch on another mobile device, you can transfer it together with the remaining value. The Octopus number will remain unchanged. Please refer to the following questions on transferring Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch to another mobile device.
Please follow these steps:
- To use the Octopus App for Tourists, please sign in with your Apple ID
- Select Octopus, tap "Spending Records"
Please follow these steps:
- Open Wallet
- Select Octopus
- Remaining value and transaction history are displayed
- Open Wallet
- Select Octopus and tap "…"
- Tap "Remove This Card"
- Tap "Remove", this Octopus will be removed and saved in iCloud
After moving your Octopus from your iPhone or Apple Watch to iCloud, you can download it to your new iPhone. First, check that you have the latest version of iOS by going to Settings > General > Software Update. Also, you must be signed into the same iCloud account used in your previous iPhone with your Apple ID.
- Open Wallet, tap "+"
- Tap "Continue"
- Tap "Octopus"
- Select Octopus from iCloud to add to iPhone
- Tap "Next"
- Follow the steps to transfer your Octopus to your new iPhone
- Open Watch app
- Tap "Wallet & Apple Pay"
- Tap "Add" Octopus under "OTHER CARDS ON YOUR PHONE"
- Tap "Next"
- Follow the steps to transfer your Octopus to your Apple Watch
- Open Watch app
- Tap "Wallet & Apple Pay"
- Tap Octopus under "PAYMENT CARDS ON YOUR WATCH"
- Tap "Info"
- Tap to add card to your iPhone
- Tap "Next"
- Follow the steps to transfer your Octopus to your iPhone
No. As long as you are connected to the internet before signing out from your Apple ID or resetting your device, your existing Octopus will be removed from your device and backed up to your iCloud account. You may re-add your Octopus to your device by signing-in with the same Apple ID and using the Wallet app or Watch app.
Please remove the Octopus and re-add it to your device via Apple Wallet. Then, the Octopus can be displayed in Octopus App for Tourists too.
- Sign in Octopus App for Tourists with your Apple ID
- Tap "Top Up"
- Input top up amount
- Tap payment method and select "Mastercard (Link Card)"
- Select payment currency
- Tap "Pay with Mastercard"
- Tap "EDIT" on the top right corner
- Select the card you want to remove by tapping the "-"
- Confirm removal of card by tapping "Remove"
Yes. Please follow the steps below to add another non-Hong Kong issued Mastercard to the Octopus App for Tourists.
- Tap "Top Up"
- Input top up amount
- Tap payment method and select "Mastercard (Link Card)"
- Select payment currency
- Tap "Pay with Mastercard"
- In the "Select you payment" screen, tap "+Add"
- Follow the steps to link another non-Hong Kong issued Mastercard for payment
- Confirm payment
- Your Mastercard is successfully linked to the Octopus App for Tourists
