Why am I unable to use Octopus Reloading Mini Program?
The following are some of the reasons that may cause the failure to use Mini Program:
- You are using a non-Android mobile device. This Mini Program only supports Android mobile devices.
- There is no NFC function in your mobile device. This Mini Program only supports NFC-enabled Android mobile device.
- You have disabled NFC function in your mobile device. Please turn on the NFC function in the system setting of your mobile device.
Why am I unable to top up Octopus in Octopus Reloading Mini Program?
The following are some of the reasons that may cause the failure to top up Octopus in the Mini Program:
- You are using a Weixin account which is not supported for top up service. The top up service in Octopus Reloading Mini Program only supports Weixin account which is registered with Resident Identity Card issued by the People’s Republic of China, and using Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet for payment.
- You are using a non-Mainland issued credit/debit card linked to Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet. Please use the RMB balance or a Mainland-issued credit/debit card linked to Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet for payment.
- The top up amount is over the stored value limit of your Octopus. The maximum stored value of Octopus is HKD3,000. So the amount you can top up will be HKD3,000 minus the current remaining value of your physical Octopus. Please input the correct top up amount again.
- Your Octopus is inactive, please click here for details and please click here on how to reactivate an inactive Octopus.
- Remove any other smartcard near your Octopus
- The card type of your Octopus is not supported by Octopus Reloading Mini Program. Please refer to Q4 under “About Octopus Reloading Mini Program”.
- The design of the NFC antenna and transmission power of each mobile device varies. If your Octopus cannot be read properly, please try holding the card about 1-2cm away from your phone.
- The NFC antenna in some Samsung mobile devices is embedded inside the Samsung-manufactured battery. In some mobile devices, the NFC antenna is in the backplane. If you are using a replacement battery or accessory, it may affect the NFC function of the mobile device. Please refer to the user manual of your mobile device for details.
- Hold your Octopus and NFC-enabled Android mobile device steady while trying to read the Octopus card.
Why can’t I register my Octopus in the Octopus Reloading Mini Program?
The following are some of the reasons that may cause your Octopus unable to be registered in the Mini Program:
- You can only register up to 20 Octopus in the Mini Program. If you have already reached this limit, please deregister the existing Octopus before you can register new one
- The type of your Octopus is not supported. Please refer to Q4 under “About Octopus Reloading Mini Program”.
