Pay For Taxi Rides with Octopus

Now you can pay taxi fares with Octopus in designated taxis. Once taxi drivers install the Octopus App for Business on their mobile phones, turning them into Octopus Readers. When you hail a taxi on the street or order a taxi with local taxi-hailing apps such as eTaxi, Fly Taxi and WETAXI, you can simply place your Octopus card at the NFC detection area, either at the back of the driver's mobile phone or on the screen of Octopus Mobile POS to pay the fare. Alternatively, scan a driver's QR code to pay through your Octopus Wallet, to enjoy the quick and simple Octopus payment experience.

How it works

Pay taxi fares with an Octopus card

 

 

Confirm the driver's name and the taxi fare on the driver's mobile screen / confirm the taxi fare on the Mobile POS.

 

Place your Octopus card at the NFC area on the back of the driver's mobile phone or the screen of Octopus Mobile POS.

 

When you hear a "Dood" sound and a receipt is shown on the driver's mobile screen or the Mobile POS, your payment transaction is completed.

Pay taxi fares with Octopus Wallet

 

 

Open the Octopus App and press "Scan".

 

Scan the driver's QR code, and input the payment amount or scan the QR Code on the Octopus Mobile POS.

 

Verify the transaction details, and confirm by password or fingerprint.
