Lalamove On-demand Logistics Service Now Uses Octopus Business O! ePay to Better Serve its Customers and Drivers
(Hong Kong, 25 July 2018) Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) and Lalamove (Easy Mobile Logistics Hong Kong Limited) today announced the launch of Business O! ePay payment service to all Lalamove drivers. From now on, Lalamove drivers can receive Octopus card payment through drivers' own NFC-enabled mobile devices, after downloading the Octopus App for Business with a simple activation of the Business O! ePay.
The cooperation between OCL and Lalamove aims to provide a safer, faster, and more convenient delivery and payment experience to citizens in Hong Kong. This new function is well-designed for all Octopus users in the city, enabling them to use Lalamove's service without any hassle even if they are short of cash on the spot.
Through the Lalamove Business O! ePay company account, Lalamove drivers only need to download the Octopus App for Business and then activate the Business O! ePay "cashier mode" function, without the need to open an account by themselves. Once the function is on, Lalamove drivers can immediately start receiving payments from the 35 million Octopus card users through tapping the cards on drivers' mobile devices, working as Octopus readers. O! ePay QR code payment is also accepted.
"This new initiative represents OCL's efforts to bringing greater convenience of digital payment to different business and industries," said Sunny Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of OCL. "We are delighted to collaborate with Lalamove, a leading same-day delivery and logistics service provider with a growing business in the region, to make delivery service and payment experience more secure and hassle-free for both drivers and customers."
"The collaboration of Lalamove with OCL offers not only a brand-new customer experience, but also makes payment easier and more secure for our drivers and couriers. It is certainly creating extra values in the whole logistics industry," said Adrian Hui, Operations Director of Hong Kong, Lalamove.
In the same occasion, Lalamove also announced the introduction of a new service - "HelpBuy", which aims to solve the daily purchase needs of citizens in Hong Kong by helping them purchase the needed items and deliver to designated locations in no time. From food, household items, decoration items to other small items, users can seek "HelpBuy" service to fulfill their needs for the required quantities in acceptable price ranges. These all can be paid via Octopus cards, consumer O! ePay or Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay.
To facilitate Lalamove divers trying out this convenient service, from now until 30 September 2018, eligible Lalamove drivers will be able to earn usage rewards up to HK$250 - including a HK$50 first-time usage reward and a HK$200 with a cumulative payment collection of HK$2,000 or above via Business O! ePay.
