Octopus App Allows Residents Collect Consumption Vouchers Easily and Shop Online from the Comfort of their Home
The first 500,000 customers to collect their consumption vouchers with the Octopus App for the first time will receive a HK$10 reward
(Hong Kong, 7 April 2022) – Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) announced it is fully supporting the HKSAR Government’s new round of the Consumption Voucher Scheme (CVS) by enabling eligible residents to collect their vouchers instantly and spend them online using the Octopus App. Under the new normal, app users will be able to purchase safely and conveniently without ever having to leave home.
From today, customers may collect their first consumption voucher (Phase 1) of $4,000 using a registered Octopus card. Subject to the amount of stored value in their Octopus cards, multiple collections may be required to receive the full voucher amount. Once cumulative total “eligible spending” has reached $4,000 on or before 31 October, the second consumption voucher of $1,000 will be ready for collection. The earliest date to collect the second voucher is 16 June. In addition to the Octopus App, customers may also collect their vouchers at Subsidy Collection Points under the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme, designated retail outlets and Octopus Service Points. The deadline for collecting the two vouchers is 31 December 2022.
Through the latest version of the Octopus App, customers may collect their consumption vouchers with ease, they may also check their spending records and save rewards alongside upcoming merchant offers to be launched. They can shop from OCL’s comprehensive list of online merchants comfortably and safely at home during the pandemic, making purchases online via the Octopus App. Merchant categories include online shopping platforms, electrical appliances and digital products, fashion, sporting goods and much more. In addition, the first 500,000 customers who collect their consumption vouchers through the Octopus App for the first time can earn a HK$10 reward.
To reduce the ongoing impact of the pandemic on small- and medium-sized merchants and taxi drivers, OCL will continue to exempt those who signed up for the Octopus App for Business in 2021 from the Bank Account Fund Transfer Fee until further notice. New small- and medium-sized merchants will also be able to enjoy a waiver of the Bank Account Fund Transfer Fee for the first six months upon successful application for the Octopus App for Business.
OCL Sales and Marketing Director Rita Li said, “Octopus is a widely used stored value facility with deep community ties, and over the past few years we have worked hard to help people in Hong Kong through difficult times. In the current pandemic situation, members of the public need to be able to collect their consumption vouchers conveniently and safely and that’s where we come in. We have also expanded our list of merchants, especially online shops, so the public can enjoy shopping without leaving home. OCL will be announcing more merchant offers and rewards shortly, and we encourage everyone to check out the latest information instantly through the Octopus App and other channels. In the meantime, we are extending our fee waivers to help tide small- and medium-sized merchants over during the pandemic.”
