Octopus to pilot Octopus – China T-Union cards nationwide
Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) today announced the pilot programme for the Octopus – China T-Union Card, which enables cardholders to take public transport hassle-free in more than 336 cities across the country covered by China T-Union transport network. Visitors to Hong Kong can also use the National Renminbi (RMB) Transit Card to pay for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge shuttle bus from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macao.
Octopus – China T-Union Pilot Programme
Customers will be able to join this pilot programme by purchasing the card and use it to pay for transport fare anywhere in the Mainland with the China T-Union logos, excluding retail payments. Octopus – China T-Union Cards will be made available at all Circle K stores and designated MTR Customer Service Centres from 26 March, priced at HK$88 each for this first edition.
Cardholders top up in Hong Kong dollars while fares are deducted in renminbi. The card is automatically updated with the market foreign exchange rate effective on the top-up date or during balance enquiry through the Octopus App by tapping the card on the back of their mobile device. The exchange rate is valid for a maximum of 90 days.
For inbound visitors to Hong Kong, National RMB Transit Card cardholders can pay bus fares for the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge shuttle bus in the direction from Hong Kong to Zhuhai and Macao. Bus fare payments are settled in renminbi according to the fare collection system’s foreign exchange conversion from Hong Kong dollars.

Convenience: No deposit required; top-up available via multiple channels
The first edition of Octopus – China T-Union Card does not require a deposit and can store up to HK$3,000 in value. Customers can top up their cards in Hong Kong dollars through the Octopus App and Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) or with cash at designated locations such as public transport venues, retail outlets and Shenzhen UnionPay EPS kiosks. In Hong Kong, the card works the same way as an ordinary Octopus card and is accepted at over 180,000 Octopus acceptance points for transportation, shopping, dining and more.
Pair with Octopus App to check remaining card value, exchange rates and transaction records

By registering their cards with the Octopus App, customers can check their cards’ remaining value, top up their cards, and track existing exchange rates, including the past 10 exchange rates and transaction records – all from the convenience of their phones.
