Octopus App for Business

The all-in-one Octopus App for Business allows merchants to receive payment from customers using Octopus card or Octopus Wallet. It is a simple, convenient and reliable payment acceptance solution. An Android or iOS mobile device¹ installed with the Octopus App for Business works like a typical Octopus reader when a customer places his or her Octopus card* against the NFC area at the back of a merchant's mobile device. The day-to-day transaction handling has never been so easy!

The Octopus Mobile POS is designed for retailers and taxi drivers. When paired with a Bluetooth-enabled Android or iOS mobile device¹ with the Octopus App for Business installed, it allows customers or passengers to pay retailers or taxi drivers by tapping their Octopus on the Mobile POS display or scanning the QR code on the display. There's no need to handle bank notes or coins, ensuring merchants and customers enjoy more peace of mind!

The latest version of the Octopus App for Business extends the battery usage and standby time of the Mobile POS, which now lasts up to 8 hours per charge, providing merchants a better payment acceptance experience.

Simple Business Account application via the mobile app!

• Simply download the Octopus App for Business on App Store or Google Play, and apply through the app. Please have the required documents ready for uploading. An SMS notification and an email notification will be received upon application approval.

No set-up cost and service fee waived, retailers and taxi drivers will be offered an Octopus Mobile POS for free!

• Receive payments via the Octopus App for Business, with no need to install any hardware or make any modifications to a store's POS system.
• Upon successful account opening, merchants can enjoy a waiver of the Bank Account Fund Transfer Fee for the first 6 months. Additionally, the Bank Account Fund Transfer Fee for the first $10,000 in transactions each month thereafter will be permanently waived³
• Taxi drivers can enjoy a waiver of the Bank Account Fund Transfer Fee until 31 December 2025².
• Retail merchants and taxi drivers may receive an Octopus Mobile POS (Price : HK$228)³.

² Only one fund transfer instruction per day will be processed during the fee waiver period. Octopus Cards Limited reserves the right to cancel the waiver for the respective Octopus Business Account.

Instantly transfer money received to the bank account with "FPS" or top-up to card 

• Octopus App for Business is now connected to Faster Payment Service (FPS), enabling shop owners to instantly transfer their money in Business Accounts to their pre-registered bank accounts on a 24/7 basis!
• Sole proprietors or taxi drivers can top up your Octopus with the collected payments in your Business Account anytime. Free of charge for life, this feature allows you to use the amount for your daily expenses after work with just a tap. Whether you are dining or travelling, there is no need to bank in or withdraw cash.

Sole proprietors or taxi drivers, please connect your Octopus App* for verification before use

1. Open Octopus App for Business and tap “Shop Owner Sign In” or “Taxi Driver Sign In”
2. If you have completed the verification, you will receive a one-time password (OTP) in your Octopus App (Please ensure you have enabled push notification for Octopus App to receive the OTP)
3. Enter the OTP in your Octopus App for Business
4. If you have never transferred fund from your Business Account to your bank account, you have to make a transfer once to complete the verification

At the end of your workday, you can top up your Octopus with the collected payments in your Octopus App for Business

1. Open Octopus App for Business and tap “Top Up Octopus”
2. Enter your shop owner password, your top up amount, and tap “Confirm”
3. Tap card
4. Done! Your Octopus is now topped up with the payments

Remarks:
You can only top up a maximum of two Octopus cards per month. There is no limit on the number of times you top up, but the limits on the top-up amount are as follows:

• Octopus Wallet Plus: $5,000 per calendar month, $8,000 per calendar year
• Octopus Wallet Pro (verified): $5,000 per calendar month, $60,000 per calendar year

*Before using this feature, please ensure your Octopus Wallet is Plus or Pro (Verified).

Download Octopus App. Enter your mobile phone number and email address to activate Octopus Wallet Lite

In the “Wallet” section of the Octopus App, tap the arrow icon near your Wallet balance

When you are ready, tap ‘Next’. Complete the upgrade application by following the instructions

As part of the upgrade process, you need to take a photo of your HKID via Octopus App, take a selfie for identity verification, and provide your residential address. All personal data is protected by encryption and used solely for application processing, account operation and customer service.

If you are using Wallet Plus, you still need to take a photo of your HKID, which has to match the data in our record.

It’s best to put your HKID card on white paper when you shoot
Shoot with as much natural light as you can
Avoid glare and shadows

Watch out for flashing light in the second photo to confirm the anti-counterfeit features of your HKID card
