OKAutomatic Add Value Service (via FPS)
It is an Octopus add value service through an electronic direct debit authorization (eDDA) from your bank account via Faster Payment System (FPS) for Mobile Octopus, including Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch, and Octopus on Android.
Your Octopus with Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS) will be automatically reloaded under the following conditions:
- The payment amount exceeds the sum of the remaining value and the maximum convenience limit*; or
- The Octopus balance is negative or zero, and you make another payment.
Each Octopus can be automatically reloaded only once per day. The AAVS (via FPS) reload transaction(s) of HK$500 will be shown in your bank transactions.
You may also add value to your Octopus to up to HK$3,000 with Octopus Wallet, please refer to the FAQ for details.
*For details, please refer to Schedule of Fees and Guidelines
AAVS (via FPS) can be linked with Octopus on iPhone or Apple Watch, or Octopus on Android. You are required to have an Octopus Wallet Plus or Pro (Verified) account, and also first set up FPS eDDA.
To apply for AAVS (via FPS), you must aged 18 or above. You can activate for AAVS (via FPS) via Octopus App. You are required to have an FPS eDDA, the instant bank transfer service set up in your Octopus Wallet in order to apply for AAVS (via FPS).
Once you have successfully activated for AAVS (via FPS), it will be effective immediately. The designated amount will be top up to your Octopus whenever you do not have enough balance for making Octopus payments.
Each Octopus can only be linked to one AAVS funding source. You cannot apply for both AAVS via FPS and credit card at the same time. If you want to switch the funding source, you need to cancel the existing AAVS first.
Each Octopus Wallet user can apply for AAVS (via FPS) for one Octopus only.
We may reject your activation request if your Octopus has applied AAVS, outstanding amount has not settled or electronic direct debit authorization (eDDA) account is not active, etc.
For your protection, each Octopus linked with AAVS can only be automatically reloaded once a day. If there is not enough value on your Octopus, you can reload via Octopus Wallet, by cash, etc.
If you receive an outstanding payment notification, please ensure that you have sufficient funds in your bank account and repay immediately via Octopus App.
Your future AAVS application may be rejected if you have outstanding payment.
*Some banks may impose bank charges for unsuccessful direct debit transactions. Please contact your bank for details.
Please check if you have any outstanding payment not settled in Octopus App. The outstanding amount should then be paid immediately in order to resume the AAVS service. If outstanding payment is not settled within 5 calendar days, your Octopus will be temporary suspended.
Your future AAVS application may be rejected until full settlement of the outstanding amount.
Please ensure that you have sufficient funds in your bank account.
You can cancel the AAVS (via FPS) function instantly through the Octopus App. Please note that there will be no Lost Octopus Reporting Service after cancellation (except for Personalised Octopus). You may continue to use the Octopus normally after cancellation.
Cancelling AAVS (via FPS) is free of charge.
