OKTopping up your Octopus Card
If you are using Wallet Lite, you need to complete a one-time registration of the Octopus Card via the Octopus App before making any top-up transactions.
Please note that this function is only applicable for NFC (Near Field Communication)-enabled Android mobile devices (NFC devices), iPhone 7 or newer with iOS 13 or above, or iOS mobile devices paired up with an Octopus Mobile Reader; the Octopus must also have at least 9 digits (i.e. minimum 8 digits plus 1 bracketed digit).
To top up your Octopus Card from your bank account, you can set up an electronic direct debit authorisation (eDDA) for fund transfer or make fund transfers in the Octopus App via designated bank app. If you are using Wallet Lite, you need to complete a one-time registration of the Octopus Card via the Octopus App before making any top-up transactions.

In the Octopus App, under the "Octopus Card" tab. Tap the Octopus Card icon, and then tap "+” to register Octopus Card.
You can register up to 20 Octopus Cards on your Octopus App. Please note that this function only applies to an Octopus with number of at least 9 digits (i.e. minimum 8 digits plus 1 bracketed digit).
You can turn on the NFC function under the Settings of your mobile device. For details, please refer to the user guide for your mobile device.
The design of the NFC antenna and transmission power of each NFC device will vary. Most of the handsets are able to read an Octopus Card at close distances. If your Octopus Card cannot be read properly, try placing it about 1-2 cm away from your mobile device.
- Tap "Top up" in the "Octopus Card" page
- Select to top up from your Octopus Wallet, your bank account or designated bank app. Then, input your top up amount.
- Tap your Octopus Card to the compatible Near Field Communication (NFC)-enabled mobile device to top up your Octopus Card
Note: In case you top up from your bank account and process is interrupted, the transfer amount will be credited to your Octopus Wallet. - The transaction receipt will be shown upon successful top up of your Octopus

Upon successful top up of your Octopus Card, a receipt with the current balance of the Octopus Wallet and the Octopus Card will be displayed for your reference. In the main menu, select "Spending Records" > "Tap card to view Recent Records" to check the remaining value on your Octopus Card.
