OKJoyYou Card
Persons aged 60 or above must use JoyYou Card to enjoy the Government Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities ($2 Scheme) from August 25, 2024 onwards. Persons aged 65 or above who are existing Anonymous Elder/Personalised Octopus holders must switch to a JoyYou Card to ensure that they can continue to enjoy the $2 Scheme from August 25, 2024 onwards using JoyYou Card.
Hong Kong residents (including eligible persons with disabilities) aged 60 or above should apply for a JoyYou Card as soon as possible if they do not have one.
Hong Kong residents reaching the age of 60 within 3 months from the date of application may apply for the JoyYou Card now. Eligible applicants holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card can apply for the JoyYou Card through Octopus App or by submitting an application form. Applicants also need to provide a copy of their Hong Kong Identity Card and a passport photo. Application forms (with postage paid return envelopes) can be obtained at the following locations:
- Unpaid area of MTR Customer Service Centres (except at To Kwa Wan, Sung Wong Toi, Hin Keng, Kai Tak, South Horizons, Lei Tung, Wong Chuk Hang and Racecourse Stations) and Light Rail Customer Service Centres (only at Yuen Long, Tin Yat, Leung King and Tuen Mun Ferry Pier Stations)
- Licensing Offices of the Transport Department
- Home Affairs Enquiry Centres of the Home Affairs Department
- District Elderly Community Centres, Neighbourhood Elderly Centres and Social Centres for the Elderly subvented by the Government
- Community Support Service Units for Persons with Disabilities subvented by the Government
- Social Security Field Units of the Social Welfare Department
- Estate Offices under Hong Kong Housing Authority
- Hong Kong Housing Society (Rental Estates, Cheerful Court, Jolly Place and The Tanner Hill Management Office)

Eligible applicants can also download the application form from this webpage. Please ensure that sufficient postage has been affixed.
Applicants may send the completed application form, together with a copy of their Hong Kong Identity Card and a 1.5 x 2 inch colour passport photo (with white or plain light colour background) taken within 6 months, to the address specified on the application form. Octopus Cards Limited (OCL) will then send the JoyYou Card to the correspondence address provided by the applicants within four weeks. Each eligible applicant can only apply for one JoyYou Card.
Eligible persons with disabilities aged 60 or above should apply for and use JoyYou Card to continue to benefit from the $2 Scheme. There is an expiry date for the “Persons with Disabilities Status” encoded on the Personalised Octopus of eligible persons with disabilities. There is no need to apply for renewal of the “Persons with Disabilities Status” after switching to a JoyYou Card.
Eligible persons with disabilities aged below 60 can continue to enjoy the $2 Scheme using Personalised Octopus with "Persons with Disabilities Status" printed with a photo. Card replacement is not required.
Yes, the JoyYou Card is only open for application by Hong Kong residents (including eligible persons with disabilities) aged 60 or above holding Hong Kong Identity Cards.
Yes, but applicants must provide a correspondence address in Hong Kong so that they can receive the JoyYou Card by mail.
The Government will subsidise the $20 application fee for the first time application for JoyYou Card. Similar to the arrangement for collecting $50 deposit from On-Loan Anonymous Octopus users, JoyYou Card holders shall reload the JoyYou Card with an amount of more than $50 before using the card, in which $50 will be refundable deposit. If eligible applicants apply for a replacement card or apply another JoyYou Card after refund, OCL will charge $20 as administrative fee.
No. For all Personalised Octopus including the JoyYou Card, once you have reported the loss of your card to OCL, the card will be cancelled and cannot be re-activated.
Each eligible applicant can hold only one JoyYou Card.
If you lose your card, you need to apply for a replacement card, which will take three working days. OCL will charge a $20 administrative fee for replacement Octopus and a $50 Lost Octopus Service Fee according to the established mechanism for Octopus replacement.
If your JoyYou Card is malfunctioned, you can return it to the nearest MTR Customer Service Centre and apply for a replacement card. A replacement JoyYou Card will be issued by Octopus Cards Limited within 3 working days.

A JoyYou Card will be sent to your correspondence address in Hong Kong within four weeks upon receipt of all information and documents required.
Upon receiving the JoyYou Card, Eligible beneficiary should use it to enjoy the $2 Scheme to facilitate identity verification. The public transport modes and services under the $2 Scheme are available at the website of the Transport Department. Fare concessions other than those under the $2 Scheme are the commercial decision of individual operators.
No. Applicants will still need to provide their personal information to OCL for verification of their identity.
As there is no stored value in the JoyYou Card when applicants first receive it, they will need to top up the JoyYou Card at the existing designated locations for reloading Octopus (e.g. retail outlets like 7-Eleven, Circle K, Wellcome, PARKnSHOP, etc). They may also download Octopus App and sign up for Octopus Wallet and FPS to top up JoyYou Cards with their mobile devices. They can also apply Automatic Add Value Service for their JoyYou Card to avoid the inconvenience caused by insufficient remaining value. No activation is required and a $50 deposit will immediately be deducted when topping up the card, so please top up the card with an amount of more than $50 before you start to use it.
If you receive the JoyYou Card before you reach the age of 60 and use it immediately, adult fare for public transportation will apply. You can benefit from the $2 Scheme with JoyYou Card from the date you reach the age of 60.
If you are an eligible person with disabilities and already possessed a Personalised Octopus with "Persons with Disabilities Status” for enjoying the $2 Scheme, you can use the "Easy Transfer" service* to transfer the services from the existing Personalised Octopus (including the valid "Persons with Disabilities Status”) to JoyYou Card in order to continue to benefit from the $2 Scheme with JoyYou Card without waiting until the date you reach the age of 60.

JoyYou Card holders can return their Anonymous Octopus / Personalised Octopus at MTR Customer Service Centres, and OCL will return the deposit and balance (if any). Please note that OCL will charge a handling fee for any such Octopus returned, please click here to learn more.
Besides, JoyYou Card holders are able to transfer the services in their Octopus (including Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS), access control system and valid "Persons with Disabilities Status", etc, if applicable), the $50 deposit and the remaining value on the Octopus (if any) to their JoyYou Card with our “Easy Transfer” service at the Octopus Service Points. The “Easy Transfer” service is free of charge.
Application for JoyYou Card now opens for eligible persons reaching the age of 60 in 3 months. Octopus Cards Limited will not process your application if you are not reaching the age of 60 in 3 months from the date of application. For more details, please refer to JoyYou Card webpage.

You will be able to transfer the services in your original Octopus (including Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS), access control system and valid "Persons with Disabilities Status", etc., if applicable), the $50 deposit and the remaining value on the Octopus (if any)) to your JoyYou Card¹ with our “Easy Transfer”² service at the Octopus Service Points. Please note that the Octopus functions on your original Octopus will become invalid after the transfer.
¹“Easy Transfer” service can only be performed once on each JoyYou Card. After successful transfer, services / offers on other Octopus could not be transferred to the same JoyYou Card via the “Easy Transfer” service
² “Easy Transfer” service is only applicable to On-Loan or Sold Octopus, but not Co-brand Octopus or Mobile Octopus. Your original Octopus will be retained or disabled after the “Easy Transfer”.
