Get a Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You can get a Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay by adding a new one, or by transferring a physical Octopus¹ to Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay via the Samsung Pay app.
¹ Only Anonymous On-Loan Adult / Elder Octopus and Personalised On-Loan Adult / Elder Octopus (except designated card types) can be transferred to Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay. Please click here to view the Important Notes for customers regarding the transfer of physical cards to Mobile Octopus.
Use of Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You can use Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay for transit and retail payments and access control, just like an Octopus card. Simply tap the mobile device (with NFC enabled) on an Octopus reader without turning on your device's screen or opening any app.
You can also make online payment with Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay with the Octopus App installed too.
Add value to Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You can add value to Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay via the following:
- Apply Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS)
- Top up instantly through Samsung Pay app with Hong Kong-issued Visa card or Mastercard without service fees
- Fund transfer from Octopus Wallet account through the Octopus App
- Top up through FPS via Octopus App²
- Reload with cash at thousands of locations, including designated transportation providers and retailers

Transaction enquiry on Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You can view the Octopus number, check the transaction history and remaining value from Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay enquiry page in the Samsung Pay app.
Transfer Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay to a new mobile device
After issuance, you can transfer Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay to another mobile device. Just follow a few steps to backup and delete Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay from your existing device, then transfer to another device.
Delete Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
If you no longer need your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay, you can delete it from your mobile device, then apply for refund of deposit and remaining value (if any).
Lost of mobile device which has Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay
You can report lost if your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay is a Personalised Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay or you have applied for AAVS for your Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay.
Otherwise, you can apply for refund of deposit and remaining value of Smart Octopus in Samsung Pay if you have provided refund information in advance.
