Octopus Reloading is a Weixin Mini Program (“Mini Program”) which enables you to easily top up your and your family’s physical Octopus using Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet – no more queuing at MTR stations or convenience stores.

You can also readily check the balance and transaction history of your Octopus via the Mini Program, for peace of mind.

Note: This Mini Program only supports NFC-enabled Android devices using Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet (Weixin account registered with Resident Identity Card issued by the People’s Republic of China) to pay for top up transactions in RMB.

Top up physical Octopus anytime, anywhere

How to top up your physical Octopus via Octopus Reloading Mini Program

Step 1

Tap “Top up Octopus” in the home screen

Step 2

Place your physical Octopus at your phone’s NFC position, until the top up amount input screen appears

Step 3

The remaining value of your Octopus is displayed. Select or input top up amount (HKD), then tap “Top up now”

Step 4

The total amount to be deducted from Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet in RMB will be displayed. Tap “Pay” to proceed

Step 5

Authenticate the payment

Step 6

Again, hold your physical Octopus at your phone’s NFC position, until the top up completion screen is displayed. If top up is not successful, please remove the Octopus and tap card again

Step 7

When the top up is successful, the top up details will be displayed.

Keep track of your spending and balance

How to register your Octopus and check the transaction history and balance via Octopus Reloading Mini Program

Step 1

Tap “Manage Octopus” in the home screen

Step 2

Place your Octopus at your phone’s NFC position until the card reading process is complete

Step 3

Input your Octopus number according to the instructions, and tap “Register Octopus”

Step 4

Card registration is completed

Step 5

Return to home screen and tap “Transactions & Balance”

Step 6

Again, tap the physical Octopus at the NFC position of your phone until the card reading process is complete

Step 7

The last 10 or 40 transactions of your Octopus (depends on card type) and remaining value will be displayed

Note: You need to register your Octopus to check your transaction history. For unregistered Octopus, only the balance will be displayed

Step 1

Tap “Top up History” in the home screen

Step 2

The details of the last 20 top up transactions made using Weixin Pay Mainland China Wallet in the past 180 days will be displayed
